MNF: Saints @ Packers
Best Pick: Packers -14
The NFL schedule caps off with the biggest spread of the weekend with Packers as 14 point favorites at home. The Packers will overpower the Saints in this one. The Saints have too many injuries to overcome. Often times people overestimate how much losing a starting WR, or RB actually impacts the game. But for the Saints, the injuries are too deep. The Saints go into tonight’s matchup without their leading passer in Derek Carr, and without their leading rusher and receiver in Alvin Kamara.
Romeo Doubs and the Green Bay Packers look to improve to 11-4 against a struggling New Orleans Saints team tonight at Lambeau.
Jordan Love and the Packers offense are looking to continue rolling going into the end of the season. Love is heading into this MNF matchup tied 7th in the NFL with 23 touchdowns, 2,953 passing yards. Love has also posted a 100+ passer rating while throwing 0 interceptions in four straight games. Love is fresh off a stat line: 20 of 27, 229 yards, and two passing touchdowns. Josh Jacobs is entering the matchup scoring a touchdown in four straight games while being 3rd in the NFL in both carries (265) and rushing yards (1,147). The Packers have covered the spread in 4 straight games.
The Saints have some serious injury issues on the offensive side of the ball, but on the defensive side, they should be at full strength. Chase Young practiced fully this past Saturday after being listed as a non-participant for much of the week. With all the offensive injuries, the Saints defense will have to stand up tall. The Saints are 11th in the league stopping their opponents on 3rd down, and 2nd in the NFL on stopping their opponent on 4th down. If the Saints win tonight, their defense will keep the Packers offense off schedule. They’ll be looking for a lot of 3rd & long situations.
With the Packers running game being so explosive, I can’t see the Saints being able to keep the Packers off schedule off night. The Packers defense is too much for the shotty Saints offense to sustain nice long drives. The Saints narrative tonight has to be defense and the use of time of possession as an extension of their defense. If the Packers limit the Saints offense, it’ll be a long night with no marchin’.
